The most common form of high-speed Internet in France is ADSL. There are several ADSL Providers that have a "triple-play" package of Internet, television, and telephone for €29.99 per month.
Try these:
Free - http://www.free.fr/adsl/
SFR - http://adsl.sfr.fr/
Orange - http://abonnez-vous.orange.fr/residentiel/hd/hdnetTriple.aspx
With these plans, you can usually call foreign landlines for free or reduced rates. There will be a fee to call foreign mobile phones. To know the details of which countries you can call for free, you'll have to read the fine print about the telephone service. I think though that Orange is the only one that charges extra for calls to the UK.
Personally, I use Free and it's mostly okay except their tech support is hard to reach. |

Try here for different internet packages: http://www.degrouptest.com/ (your friend just has to enter in her phone number)
Also have a look at the section here about internet and phones: http://www.lost-in-france.com/living-in-france/moving/270-getting-connected
Another thing worth considering for calls to and from the UK is to post your friend a Tesco internet phone, it basically plugs into the computers USB socket and would give your friend cheap calls to the UK and they would get to choose their own geographical UK phone number even though they're in France, so anyone phoning your friend from the UK would just have to pay the price of a local call: http://www.tescointernetphone.com/ |

With an Internet connection (DSL) you will be able to call in over 90 coutries through the world for free including national and local numbers in France. the whole package (Internet +tv+ telephone) wont cost you more then 29.99 euro/month. |

Well, be grateful that you have the internet. There are ppl among us who lived in France in the days before the internet. Yeah, we had to walk 10 miles to the ecole, avec les pieds nus dans la neige.(10 miles to school, barefoot in the snow).
Just check out the "pages jaunes" (internet or paper) and ask the different companies what they charge. If you can, ask French ppl/students what they use. You can ask ex-pats you meet for advice too. |
