Anyone know about paris?
For my science project we need to come up with a location for our fantasy vacation. It has to have 3 activitys to do with earth science. I want mine to be paris but i have no clue what has to do with earth science there. i also want some good places to go there it has to take up a week but remember it is fantasy but it cant be out of reach.
There are features in Paris you could bring up if you want to study earth science.
1) the river seine ie: is it clean or polluted? How have all the quais effected it? Where their swamp lands and what is it like to live in them now? I'll give you a hint - le marais means swamp and that IS a section of Paris.
2) their are hills
3) mention how often their are earth quakes in that region (not very often at all)
4) talk about the soil ie: the effects of people and pollution on it.
5) You could talk about the last ice age and what effect that had on the landscape of Paris.
4) Their are some islands in the Seine.

I remember of hearing about something called the basins of Paris when I was there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mines_of_Paris
There are also the catacombs underground (manmade tombs).
The river Seine runs through the city dividing it.
Not sure exactly sure what you're looking for related to Earth science. It seems to cover a lot of topics. Hope I helped a little! Good luck.
Were there any other specifics you needed to cover?
edit: I spelled something incorrectly (hearing)

The Eiffel Tower is in fact a rocket. Seriously, you might want to go here:

ps Paris is in Rome apparently (see above). Phew, I'm glad I found out.
I was in Paris for 3 days recently - lots of great places to see. Montmartre, The Latin Quarter, Montparnasse, Notre Dame, the Pompidou Centre etc etc.
