To tell you "everything" would take a book. Luckily, there are a lot of people who have already written such books. You would be well advised to get a few of them and read them before making your decision.

I've visited Paris twice and loved it and the people. I hear Americans complain that the French are nasty, but I never ran into any problems. Buy a English-French book and learn some basic French, Respect their country and culture and if you visit churches and museums, be especially respectful.
I think the people who have problems most likely bring it on themselves if they have a "better than thou, 'cause I'm an American" attitude.
Learning to greet, thank and say goodby in French goes a long way. The subway (Metro) system is very easy to learn.,
but Paris is a city you can walk to see most of the famous sights. Of course. like any city in the world there are safety issues to consider.

I came to Paris for a six month visit thirty years ago. I'm still here.

I spent a month there this past summer.
It was the best experience of my life thus far.
The Eiffel Tower at night is amazing.
(while i was there it was lit up blue for the EU)
The market on Boulevard Richard Lenoir is adorable, it is everything a market should be. on metro 5 stop Richard Lenoir or Breguet Sabin.

Study abroad. It is the best experience you will ever have.
You meet new people, try new food, what else could you ask for?

Me
Paris is great. I won't say to much but it is very beautiful. I was there for 2 days.
