Apart from Paris , Rhone Alpes and South what are the best areas in France for employment opportunities ? |
Im relocating to France and would ideally like to live within commutable distance of an area that has good employment opportunities in the Manufacturing and Services sectors . I cannot afford to live in the pricey South , Paris , Alsace or Rhone Alpes areas I have drawn up a short list of Le Mans , Bordeaux , Nantes , Poitiers but Im really not too sure . Is Brittany any good or is it just tourism and farming ? . Any suggestions in any region of France is much appreciated . |

I'm afraid I will strongly disagree with Abdoucondocet. Toulouse has been recognised one of the best cities to live in. However, property price is high (although I was told it is now going down, but that's general).
Manufacturing is a declining activity, unlike services. The ANPE (Job Centre equivalent) is merely helpful, still have a go at it. Otherwise, I would advice you to try the interim agencies (you have to go there everyday if you want them to give you a job).
For the area, Britany was one of the best performing regions in France a few years ago. Still, most of the best opportunities occur in the Paris area.
I do not really know the west and north west, I just remember visiting Angers, a fine place.
Poitiers is supposed to be fairly dynamic.
Why not going on a "tour de France" before you do your decision. |

Toulouse, the largest city in southwestern France (and the city with the fastest-growing population in Europe) has a dynamic economy, and I'm pretty sure that it's not nearly as costly to live there as it is to live in PACA (Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur). Mediterranean coastlines tend to cause the cost of housing to skyrocket, whereas Toulouse is inland. |

toulouse (as the south) is not the best place to go : it's a place where the employment is high, cause many ppl want to live in the sun.
if you want a job in france, paris is the place to be : that s the cause why so many french ppl go to paris. in many sectors young workers leave their home city, go for hard working in paris, wishing to come back after some years.
if you think the "south" (i'm wondering what you mean, is this PACA only ??) or Alsace or Rhone Alpes are pricey, you'll the this is the same Bordeaux or Nantes or Brittany, that are dynamic places.
Le Mans and Poitiers are not pricey... but could you find a job... honestly i dont know what is your job, so... it's hard to help and to say anything but commonsense and not interesting things.
first of all you could have a look in some websites : ANPE (research for employment), Chambres de commerce... |
