There have been attempts to repeal the very strict secular laws in school (the veil story) in France but they were successfully beaten back and in fact those laws were tightened in answer to that. France is one of the most secular countries in the world.

The overall population of African and Magreb immigrants is small, but they are concentrated where their parents came to find work and where the new migrants come too, mainly the big cities. Paris, Lyon, Marseille have big population of immigrants, the rest of France does not. So you are more likely to see Africans and Arabs in Paris and in much higher proportion than the overall average than in Boulogne sur Mer.

All what you hear is propagnada...Im French born in Paris and my familly has lived here since 500 yrs...so there is French people in Paris...it's like if you were saying that NY is a black city..lol

Muslim only represent 3% of the overall population.(and even less really follow the religion) ..and for the Sharia you talking about England and NOT France.

but since we are a nice (or just naive??) country, they get French ID very easily, so if you ask them, they are French...

the governement opened the country to thousands of people coming from Algeria and africa in the late 60's so now we just can't throw them away...

it's sure that in the countryside you won't find a lot of immigrants... but paris ' suburb and every big cities are crowded with non French people and like you say it' getting hard to find French people...

85% of the French are "native" (I think you meant white), and 1/3 of the others 15% are native French, but who live in overseas territories and are crÃ©ole (black), or polynesians.

The others 10% are immigrants from formers colonies (muslims from north Africa and catholics from Africa).
You saw many of them in Paris because they are concentrated in the Paris' region (Ile-de-France), that's why they look numerous.

The others things like "sharia" or "overruning" are bullshit and PROPAGANDA.

Now I advise you to stop watching Fox News or CNN, that's PROPAGANDA and certainly not information.

I agree with the writer who told you not to believe all you see or hear in the American media. American news tends not to be very subjectively reported (to the point of censorship). The American government wants their citizens to be afraid of imaginary threats from people of the muslim faith so they can garner more support from American citizens for the US war effort.
Yes, there are visible minorities in Paris. Many come from the former French colonies and there was widespread importation of people from other countries when there were worker shortages in France.
As you say yourself, the population sample you saw while visiting France was not representative because you were at the tourist attractions.

If you walk anywhere north of Paris, just north like Les Halles, north arrondissements, or suburbs, or cities, you'll see mostly african immigrants, and let me tell you it was not like this before

Now there's still many areas of France that are relatively preserved, for example Normandie and Bretagne, but in general yes France is getting invaded by the south and it worries millions of French people, they hold a grudge against Mitterand and Chirac for allowing France to be invaded by
a mass immigration of mostly arabs and africans over the last 20-30 years, politicians have not done much. Signs of trouble are showing up, have you heard about the emeutes (riots) 2005-2007? Is this enough or must we wait for another 'milestone'?

PS: another effect for Paris is the 'tourisme de haute saison' effect, basically in July-August Parisians leave Paris and tourists come by the masses, therefore tourists may be disappointed that they see Americans, Japanese,etc but don't see 'real Parisians' (Francais de souche).

Neither France not any european country will be invaded by africans or arabs.
The abusibe immigration has been stopped and now very strict criteria heve been put in place.
Sharia law is anything but human! I have no idea where your information can come from, but believe me, this is completely wrong!

I don't know where you are from but there are arabs and african muslims in all the capitals and big cities I've seen in the world...there is immigration everywhere, we are in 2008.....and hopefully the future will bring more immigration and more mix of population. But nobody is taking over Paris, be carrefull when watching too much CNN.

French people don't like immigrants. France can never be overrun by North Africans or Asians. I lived in France for 5 years. I am a Caucasian from Sweden. I was never a victim of discrimination in France but they don't like Arabs and Africans. Europe is backward in term of immigration policy. We are all humans and it is time we all understand that. Les Francais sont stupids et cons. Ces Francais ne voient vraiment pas plus loin que le bout de leur nez! Vous pouvez dire tout ce que vous voulez mais vous etes ignorants.
