Are the neighbourhood of Station Les Halles and Gare de Lyon safe?

My family plan to stay at a Novotel hotel at Les Halles, at our return we plan to take Air France transfer from Gare de Lyon to CDG at the very early hour, say 7:00. We have to go from the hotel at Les Halles station to Gare de Lyon and wait on the street for the bus. Our concern is whether it is safe in these neighbourhood? How long it takes to transfer to Airport from Gare Dr Lyon?

Paris is generally a safe city but it still is a good idea to keep your wits about you. (In 2000, one crime was reported for every sixth inhabitant of Paris, and the rate has increased by at least 10 percent a year since then. This still makes it safer than many major metropolitain areas in Europe.)

The area around Les Halles is a gathering place for teenagers and an influx of poor North Africans from the outskirts there has produced some street crime. The nearby rue St. Denis, just a few blocks over features drug dealers, addicts and prostitutes with predictable results.

As has already been advgised, you would be better off taking the RER from the Chatelet-Les Halles station to CDG in any case.

Les Halles is pretty safe. I dont know the Novotel, but its a busy shopping area, so its OK. Why are you taking a transfer from Gare de Lyon instead of taking the RER train directly to Charles de Gaulle from Les Halles? The RER train takes about 1 hour from there and leaves from underneath Les Halles. It would be way better than going to Gare de Lyon.

The RER from Les Halles to CDG might be simpler, but Gare de Lyon is totally safe at 7am. The bus to CDG runs every half hour, on the 1/4 hour (7h15, 7h45, 8h15, etc), and Gare de Lyon is totally safe.

I live across the street from this bus stop, and I take it all the time to go to CDG. For me, it's very convenient.
