Are there any hotels I should stay in when I go to France? |
I wamt something nice but not too expensive. And enough so that I could have 11 year old not be fidgety. And in Paris. But a good location in Paris. |

I am not sure there is such a thing as a non-fidgety 11 year old!
However, I started taking my daughter on trips to Europe when she was about that age and it worked out very well. My strategy was simply to have so many sightseeing activities that she collapsed onto a sound sleep almost as soon as we arrived back in the hotel room.
The problem I have answering your question is that I think you may be asking for a hotel that has certain amenities (cable TV, swimming pool, video game room) that can amuse an 11 year old. These things tend to exist, if they exist at all, only in hotels that are either ridiculously expensive or on the outskirts of Paris. So if that's what you want there may be no good answer to your question.
If you're willing to use my strategy (sensory overload followed by a sound sleep) to avoid the fidgets then the Hotel de Nesle is a good choice. Its very well located in a nice neighborhood and very inexpensive. You can check out their website: http://www.hoteldenesleparis.com/ |

You have many hotels in Paris.
I suggest you to look in the chain Accor :
http://www.accorhotels.com/fr/reservation/hotel-paris.shtml
The best are Novotel or Mercure (3 stars)
If you want to spend less, you can book Ibis (2 stars)
They are good hotels and generally in good situation inside Paris.
I think in Novotel, children under 16 in the same room with parents don't pay.
The more you are close to the center of Paris, the easier it will be to visit. |

Whenever I'm looking for hotels, I always check out Trip Advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com) because it has reviews from travelers like you & me. There's also forums where locals talk about hotels, attractions, etc.
First pick the attractions you want to go to and search for hotels in that area. If you want a central location, try the Opera area. That's where the shuttle from DeGaulle Airport drops off & you won't have walk with your luggage too far. It's very touristy there however.
We stayed at Hotel de France Invalides, which as the name implies is near Les Invalides (Napoleon's tomb & military museum), diagonally across the street to be exact. It was a short walk to Rue Cler and not far from the Eiffel Tower. Our 3 person room (had 3 single beds) with a view of the dome of Les Invalides was 110 Euros per night. The neighborhood (near the Metro stop Ecole Militaire) had few tourists with a grocery store, post office, pharmacy, boulangerie, cafes and a laundromat within a block or two. |
