As a general rule the further south you go the shorter people are. My husband (French) is average height for a Frenchman but small here in England. I'm average in England for a woman but struggled getting trousers long enough in France. However we do have a couple of French friends who are well over 6'.
Also there are less blond (true blond) and red headed people - although again this is very general. The Mediterranean "type" is shorter and darker whilst the British type is taller and more fair.
Of course there is every variation in between and you can get tall red headed French men! There is nothing as obvious as the colour of skin or the shape of the eyes - it's more a general trend. |

I don't understand why Boudicaa got a thumb down. I'm French (half-breed) and I'm living in France and it's true that one can tell if someone comes from England or the United States. Not only because of the way they dress sometimes but also because they have pale skin, rosy cheeks (well, sometimes), lighter hair color, they are less skinny than the French... Of course, it doesn't work all the time ! People from Bretagne, in Northwest France look more like English people for example. Whereas people from the South (French riviera, southwest France) look more like Italians or Spanish. The reason why there are not any physical difference between Canadians and americans is probably -as I see it- because they have both anglo-saxon background. On the other hand, French people have more a Latin background... |

the French sometimes call the English "roastbeefs" because of their pale skin that becomes red in the sun.
(Also a kind a revenge for the nickname "frogs" used by the English to speak of the French.) |

The two groups have very similar but slightly different antecedents.
The original peoples of both the British Isles and ancient Gaul were Celtic. Both places were eventually over run by Germanic tribes.
But Greeks settled in ancient Gaul along the Mediterranean coast and the Roman influence was far greater in what is now France than what is now the UK.
So it's likely that there are more French people with some Greek or Roman ancestry. As you go further south in France, towards the areas that had the greatest contact with the Mediterranean civilizations of the ancient world you see more people with physical appearances that suggest this. |

It is important to understand that there is no typical englishman or french man. Their has been an enormous amount of immigration of peoples. The charicteristics of people vary by region. In addition there are a lot French with English heritage and English with French heritage.
I think the physical difference would be more a matter of body language and culture. How they stand, how their posture is, how they dress and how they gesture - all these things would be determined by their upbringing, not their genetics. |

Noses. French noses are long, straight, and often have a hump. |

Besides that the British live in Great Britain and the French live in France? Not really any physically defining differences, all from the same European descent. |
