Are there conditions as to what kind of car can be driven to France (from the UK)? Eg new cars only?
Hi
Thinking of driving to France in the Summer. Someone said that my car is too old to take. Googling only seems to bring up the age of the driver as a factor. Does anyone know where I can find information as to whether there are restrictions on certain car types in France (or indeed elsewhere in Europe).
Thanks for your time.
As long as it's roadworthy you shouldn't have a problem.
You may want to read the following as it gives advice on the driving requirements in France such as the items you're legally required to have in your car (e.g. warning triangle, and reflective jacket/vest).
just remember to take a reflective jacket with you its a new law in France

as long as your car is legal...you will be fine. we took an old car to France. have a GB sticker, headlight adjustment stickers & a red triangle for emergencies in your boot & you will be fine. all of which you can buy at the ferry port. (although it is more expensive there....go to Halfords!)

He meant that driving an old car from UK to France might cause you a trouble on your way, but if you will take the ferry you will save time and don't go further than calais, check your MOT car first.

Once you drive your car out of the dealers shop it is used........How would you ever have a regulation like that???
Call it common sense...use some.
