and i stayed in a really nice hotel just outside of paris
it was called the hotel kyrad
it was really nice and not busy at all

Location, price and comfort are the three main criteria people use in selecting a hotel. Just saying they're all important doesn't really narrow the list of possibilities.

What is important regarding location? Do you want to be near anywhere in particular or just not near rough areas? City centre, further out in the city, or in the suburbs?

What is your minimum standard of comfort? 2 stars? 1 star? 3 stars?

What price range were you looking for?

When I receive my family I book rooms in this hotel,
Villa de Saxe is a small street very quiet, 5 minutes in walking of Champ de Mars and Eiffel Tower, Ecole Militaire, Invalides, Unesco. There is a MERCURE HOTEL, very near of Hilton Suffren, 6, rue St Lambert 75015 Paris, tÃ©l : 33/1 45 58 61 00, Fax : 33/145 54 10 43, 5mins of Eiffel Tower, very good hotel and not overpriced.
If you search "map" you can find my 2 addresses. I give you adresses in the heart of the city, in a very safe district, almost the best district of the city,(with 8th and 16th) it's important when you come back in the night !

Heck with any complaints about the Tiquetonne (sorry Chanteur68!)! For the price & location it is fantastique!

Hotel Tiquitonne: 6, rue Tiquetonne PHONE: 01 42 36 94 58; Metro: Etienne Marcel (WAS (2006) 47 euro per night for two; no tv/phone in room; not fancy; no breakfast--amazing price/neighborhood/metro access/fun breakfast restaurant across the street--make sure to walk down to Rue Montorgueil--great market street); right bank; very conveniently located; request a room away from the street.

i have some hotels i can recommend you that is going to suit to your budget i think
Firstly for private single ensuite
Hotel Londres et d'Anvers (65 euros/50 pounds)
At 5 mn by foot of the Station of the North, close to the Montmartre and to the Sacred Heart, direct access by the subway to the district of the Halle where you can do shopping,central Paris (around 20 min by the underground)really nice hotel,modern.
Boissiere hotel has a good value for money 53 euros/42 pounds for a private single ensuite you are by underground 12 minutes from central paris( line 3) ,close to the main shopping areas and attractions.
After i can advise you some hotel that are more in popular areas so cheaper it is still in paris but it is close to the suburb
Hotel la terasse
35 pounds for a private single ensuite,you still have the underground and you are in 20 min(subway) to central paris.
Hotel de Paris 44 pounds for a private single ensuite
Finally Hotel San sebastian 50 pounds for private single ensuite close to bastille ,a lively area with a lot of bars and shops ,very good location , in central paris .If you want have a look at the photos'hotels or the maps you can go to this link

A good balance of price and comfort are the Citadine hotels that are scattered throughout Paris. I've stayed at 3 of them and they are very clean, in good locations, and the price is not too high. They also have a kitchen or kitchenette.

There are hotels that are cheaper but maybe not as comfortable or nice. You'll have your own bathroom at Citadine vs. some really cheap hotels where you share a bathroom.

It is more expensive but you can actually save money by buying food at monoprix, ed, franprix, etc. and cooking in the aparthotel.

another hotel chain that is comfortable and not expensive are the accor hotel. I've stayed at a few of these and they're clean, neat, your own bathroom, and not terribly pricey.

I used to recommend Tiquetonne but it's had a few complaints lately about the staff being not very helpful so I stopped referring people there (also you have to share a bathroom). But it is very cheap. They also don't have internet booking so you have to call them but Citadine and Accor can be booked online.

Another place I really like is St. Christophers Hotel-Hostel in the 19th. It's a hostel and there'll be plenty of youngish backpacker types there but it's new (only a month old) so very neat, clean, and the staff are very cool. It is very cheap but it is a hostel which means you may share a bathroom with 2 attractive backpackers from Amsterdam.

Hotel DANMARK near the gare du nord is a first class litle hotel. around 20 mins easy walk from central Paris

I stopped at the Holiday Inn express at the airport. Got the free shuttle to the train and got a train pass in. Not in central Paris but reasonable and comfortable

I stayed right down the street from the arc de triumphe...it was $300 a night. Hotel Warwick! Awesome Hotel!!

Mercure Paris Opera Garnier - centrally located and very nice without being too pricey.
