Any good guide book will point you to the major tourist sights. Places like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur and the Arc de Triomphe are all things you should see. (if for no other reason than in years hence when watching a movie set in Paris you will be able to turn to your friends and casually remark.."I've been there.")

The same is true the of major cultural venues, the Louvre, The Beaubourg, The Cluny, the Musee D'Orsay, and the Rodin Museum to name just a few. Two months worth of weekends is not enough to even begin a serious look at the vast number of art treasures in Paris.

Paris is so old and so important a city in history, art, and culture that there is something to see or do every few feet. Here's an example. I almost always stay at a hotel on the Rue.St. Andre des Artes in the 6th arr. in the city center. Across the street from the hotel is a bar callled the Mazet where Jim Morrison had his last drink. A little passageway next to the bar holds the office where Marat printed revolutionary pamphlets. Up the street on the next block is the rue de Buci street market. Fishmongers from there are said to have been some of the first to start the riots that culminated in the storming of the Bastille. Around the corner is the first Cafe in Paris, the Procope, opened in 1686 (Voltaire, Rousseau and Diderot were loyal regulars...Benjamin Franklin hung out there).

My advice to people however, is to see the sights but don't miss the real charm of Paris.

Go to the Luxembourg Gardens, sit on one of the lounge chairs that are scattered about and watch kids sail toy boats in the pond.

Stroll thru the Tuilleries Gardens and find the sandy courts where older gentlemen gather to play boules (maybe someone will offer to teach you how to play).

Get a good map then put it in your pocket and just wander around off the main streets. Peer into shop fronts, check out a grocery store, take in the architecture, and when you see a small cafe with no bright lights or "english spoke here" signs, just walk in and have a glass of wine. Sit a spell and watch the world go by.

What is the "best nightclub" depends on what you like and what your budget is.

My own suggestion for the evening is to try Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand (left bank) or Un piano sur le trottoir at 77 rue des Francs Bourgeois (right bank) for dinner. Both places are very friendly, relatively untouristy, and have pianos playing and people singing. Join in.

Finally, be both fearless and open minded. Meet people. Become part of the city for just a little while. Don't worry about seeing some list of "must see" tourist sights. Fall in love with Paris as so many of us do and you'll be back.

There are so many thing to do and see in Paris. From the Eiffel tower,The Louvre museum,Although I like the Orsay museum better,Notre dam,and many other Churches, there are lots of markets you can go to.Even the graveyards a worth a visit.
weekend trips out side Paris(the Champagne region is amazing)some of the best night clubs are in the Pigelle area(the red light district)Worth a visit just don't go by yourself and keep your money very close to you.Hope you have a great time.

When I was there summer of 2000 there was a bike tour company called Mike's bike tours or Bullfrog Bike Tours. Its an English bike tour where you bike all over several areas in paris. We were only in paris for 2 days and went on the morning and evening bike tour. The evening one ends with a little boatride down the canal and some wine. They meet at one of the "feet" of the Eiffel tower. At which times..I don't remember. I would highly recommend that. I saw everything I wanted to see in the limited time we had!

So many things to see in Paris. As you are staying for 2 months, it's good planing to go places such as Versailles, Fontainebleau, and even Mont-St-Michel and some of the Loire Valley Castle. You'll get a very good view of France.

Check at http://www.c-lafrance.com/ and especially on the Paris pages. You'll find very useful clues what to visit
