It depends on what you're trying to shop for.

Champs Elysees, Avenue Montaigne, Avenue George V - these are quite upmarket and the latter two are designer streets, so expect to pay expensively for your purchases here. By world renowned designers of course.

The Marais area is great for small boutiques with unusual pieces, as well as some vintage clothings and the likes.

The grands magasins near Opera - Galeries La Fayette and Printemps (international tourists can get 10% discount with vouchers that come in the city maps provided by either of the two) - are good places to shop for designers too, although in around the area there are plenty more other affordable shops to go to.

There is also an outlet shopping area just outside of Paris, near Disneyland actually. It's called La Vallee Village.

If you are looking for antique items and art pieces, Rue de Rivoli has some pretty good shops.

i don't know the "best" shopping place but my favorite store is "Zara." i love it so much i hope to purchase stock in the company some day. the clothes are made all right, but the styles, especially in their classics line send me to the moon. looooove zara. if you find one, i would think you will also find other great stores. i found a dress in a non-chain-store store in paris but near zara last summer for 30 euros and i wear it all the time!

Well, Le Champs-Elysees is probably the most famous, but shopping is everywhere there.

I'd say La Defense (Les Quatre Temps) and Les Halles.

There are so many nice stores there.
You could go to the Champs Elysees but the shops tend to be a bit more expensive.

In France, shopping more or less means : buying clothes. Assuming that's what you mean't :

My advice : go to the left bank, in the saint-germain des prÃ©s area :

Strioll on rue de rennes, rue de grenelle, rue du Four, rue de SÃ¨vres, rue du Cherche-midi... There, you'll find a mix of smalll and big designer's shop, brand shops, and bigger places like H&M (rue de rennes), Zara (rue de SÃ¨vres)... You can also educate your eye at the Bon MarchÃ© on rue de SÃ¨vres : high-end grand magasin. Much more parisian than the hausman grands magasins which are for tourists. More expensive, too. Don't miss the grande Ã©picerie and the floor above it which for younger (and no less expensive) designers.

if you go there, you'll be among french chic shoppers (same with the Marais & rue des Franc-bourgeois, less upscale but style "tendance" but I don't know the area as well).

Champs ElysÃ©es is for the tourists and the suburbs.

Avenue Montaigne and rue du Faubourg saint-HonorÃ© are woth going to if you are interested in fashion. The top end designers and haute-couture.You can't afford ANYTHING, and it's quite intimidating to go inside, but if you're not shy, what the hell, and if you are, there are still the window to look at !
