les= the, plural form
e.g.: les maisons= the houses

de= of/from/about or it can be used as a prounoun (in fact, there s a lots of meanings....

Virginie est de Calais= Virginie is from Calais

La peinture de Claude est moche= Claude s painting is ugly

Ce livre de la révolution n est pas bien= This book about the revolution isn t (really) good

etc etc

To complete the previous answer

"des" can be a plural but it is not translated in english.
Example: des maisons >> Houses

les : means "The" (plural)

and

de: means "of"

For your greetings "merci beacoupe" it's no good, you say : Merci beaucoup !! !o!...
