America is fake and France is the real deal. You cannot compare the two. The USA has no history in depth whereas France is full of history ancient and modern. The USA is up there and in your face with everything that is new yet France isnt. It would be better to say which is better between France and Italy and the USA and Australia as these countries balance each other better. I alternate my holidays between the 2 but generaly enjoy France more because it feels more "foreign" if you know what i mean. Probobly because of the language and lifestyle.
As for the idiot from America who thinks they kicked us out. Check your history, the only war between the USA and Britain was in 1812 which we won, the yanks bottled out of a later scrap over western Canada. The war of Independence was a British Civil war between British settlers and Parliament which the settlers won and the USA was formed. The USA did not exist before it was created by British settlers and George Washington was born British and fought for the British army. As for who won the WW2 you seem to forget that the Russians with 20 million dead soldiers beat the crap out of Germany not the USA. The yanks are so full of there own Hollywood hype they believe it to be true whereas the French are a proud nation by right.......... I wont sit on the fence anymore and will say that France is much better than the USA mainly because of its people. |

France is beautiful but America is a very diverse country.
Hmmmm....
I'd go for America. The land of dreams. |

In intelligence defiantly.
Never been to America before, but I've been to France a few times and I like it. So yes France is better in my opinion. |

They are both too different to compare. Landscape, language, population diversity, you would visit both for different reasons.
What if you really wanted to visit the caves in the Shenandoah region (or really wanted a breakfast at Bob Evans) but you only had a weekend to do it in, you just wouldn't. But you could nip over to France for a quick trip and have croissants for breakfast instead - get my point? |

I would say france. My cousin is american (not a bit english) and im half american but i hate to say it my people are very loud mouthed and rude. Some arent though so dont take offence. America is a very nice place with loads of resorts ect but france is better if you want romance america is a family country. |

French culture (literature, intellectualism, massive artistic and musical achievements, scientific advancements) is somewhat preferable to that of America (McDonalds, MTV... erm...).
But Americans tend to be a bit more hospitable. That said, as a Scot, my country has a history of amiability with France, so I don't really hold the same innate dislike of them as English folk do. |

From these answers, sounds like a lot of brits are still sore that we kicked them out 225 years ago. They also seem to have forgotten that the USA hepled them back in the '40's while france was too busy surrendering. |

Its a toughie. France is full of cheese-eating-surrender-monkeys, however America is full of Americans.
I'll say America is better; only because they have the decency of staying a lot further away from us than France. |
