Busiest month for vacation time in europe?

What is the busiest month to travel Italy and France?

Show all answers

Pastor Dave
The middle two weeks of August are the busiest, followed by the other two weeks in August and the last two weeks in July. Then comes the first two weeks in July.

Some people take vacation in June and September, but in general, outside of July and August, most people take vacation around holidays and school vacations.

For south of France definitely July and August - you'll find very few Parisians in Paris during August.

It depends on the place where you go. People generally go to holiday places in July and August, so large cities are generally rather empty, save for tourists and persons who cannot offer to go on holidays.

Paris is indeed nearly empty in the mid two weeks of August.

Having lived in Italy, I would say that it is July. August is quite busy with tourists, but most of them don't realize that 75% of stores are closed the entire month of August as the shop owners and locals go on holiday (vacation). The school year ends later there than it does in the U.S., so if you can go anytime before their schools are out, that would be ideal - and the weather is perfect in late spring/early summer.

Tim
July and August are the busiest with August somewhat the busier of the two, with the people of those countries taking vacations along with foreign visitors.

I happen to like October. I have visited during that month several times and found the hot weather over, precipitation and cold not yet started, and the crowds small or non-existent. In some very touristy areas, however, one will find that not every attraction, restaurant, or vacation hotel is open.

i went in July to both Italy and France and it was so crowded. try not to go in the summer months (for that reason and to avoid the heat!)
