Buying groceries in Paris?

I will be in Paris for about a month renting an apartment. To save money I'll be cooking many meals myself. So my question is, how much should I expect to spend on groceries a week for one person?

somewhere between 20-40 euros.
make sure to go to an actual supermarket (Monoprix is good) instead of a smaller store, which may be closer.
(it's a lot cheaper)

The person who said that groceries in Paris are quite cheap must be from Norway or Germany. By US standards, French groceries are expensive. The only thing in France cheaper than in the US is foie gras. Casino is a reasonably priced chain of supermarkets. If you can find an Auchan, you can save some money (though this chain of hypermarkets/discount stores) tend to be in the suburbs and might be too far to use public transit. You can get some good deals in produce markets, but you'd have to look around or ask some locals. If you can find a Chinese grocery store, you can find some bargains there (both Chinese and Western groceries), but it's kind of hit or miss. If you are from the US, you should be aware that in France, buying a larger size (e.g. of potato chips, carton of orange juice, etc.) isn't necessarily a good deal and sometimes, the larger container can be more expensive per ounce (not cheaper like in the states).

About 30 € to 50 €... Depending on your tastes in food.
The least expensive supermarkets are Auchan, Carrefour, Monoprix, Champion and Casino.. This last one is a bit more expensive, but Casino's products are of excellent quality.

Ask in your neighbourhood what day the street market is held, it is the least expensive of all. Excellent for fruit and vegetables, charcuterie and cheeses, street markets are held in every arrondissement, you can ask in the Mairie for the locations.

I would say about €30 would feed you.

Around 50€ a week, depending on your tastes, and counting small necessities (toilet paper etc...).

I use to spend from 25-40€. Groceries are quite cheap. I found Casino to be the cheapest supermarket.
