NO you require your passport when travelling into the UK. You might be able to France (depending on the point of entry) but you will not be able to get back into the UK without this document. Drivers licenses are not recognised as legal identifications in countries that they are not issued by....though some establishments will accept these for drinking you can not use it to enter contries. |

and at the moment you will have to show it both ends
i travel to France once a week and i always have to show it on the way back in hop it helps |

I think not ! as you leave the UK you very rarely get asked to show your passport , but coming back we have always been asked to provide it . |

Go on spoil yourself and get yourself a passport.
You can get an emergency meeting at the passport office in Peterborough.

Sorry, but you do need a passport.
As many people state, you may get out of the country with no passport, but no chance of getting back in without one.
