UK Dad
I guess you are in mainland Europe so you probably can go to France with your licence as there are no border controls
It would not be permitted from the UK

Graham I
It depends on where you are starting from and which nationality you are. If you are travelling within the Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden) then you do not need a passport to enter France. If you are travelling outside the Schengen area (even in transit, for example going through Switzerland to get from Austria to France, or an airport transfer through Heathrow) then you will need a passport (or for some EU countries a valid national identity card).

NO!!!!

frontera2
Technically yes, but practically no..

The reason: France is part of the Schengen agreement which allows for freedom of travel, without border controls, across all Shengen members. If you were stopped in France and asked for ID, your driving licence would be admissable.

However, because the UK is not part of Schengen - you would have a great deal of trouble in trying to leave the country as all airports / ferry terminals / eurostar ask to see your passport before allowing you to board the ferry / plane / train

naturist
I take it that you are in the UK. If you want to drive to France (or anywhere in Europe), you are going to need a valid passport. Oh, and an amphibious car.

blue dolphin
Not without a passport.

clark kent
no you need a passport, you can travel to Northern Ireland with driving licence

I don,t think so.As far I know everybody has to identify himself by valid Papers. And if you travel abroad you must have a valid Passport of course. And a Driving License is no Travel Document. You agree?

L a l a N ii kk U
No you cant't
dont try it either =) << Great Advice
Erm Just get a passport =)
lol
You can go with just an ID Card though
or Visa

Marymiss
Where are you from?
If you are American, you need a valid passport. If other EU countries, you need you ID.

Facile Princeps
You must have full valid passport

well, to enter any country in the world and exit yours, you must have your passport and if applicable have applied for a visa to that country.

if you are an EU citizen (italy, spain, greece, belgium, portugal, germany etc etc), you can travel within the EU space with your ID only and no passport will be required from you.
driving license is made to drive a car, truck or bike not to travel from country to country.
