in france they use carte bleu, which is a kind of credit card, visa, mastercard, but it has a chip, so instead of slide it when you shop, they hold it into a slot (its more safe about secuity).
so, everybody has this model (carte bleu)in france, and many shops doesnt have or accept the normal sliding card.
i recomend you if you ara going to be in franc for a long period, to ask your bank if he can give you a carte bleu card.
cheers mate!
ull have problems in 80% of shops without the carte bleu (like supermarkets and some shops. not in restaurats or hotels. |

Most ATMs will take Visa Electron for cash withdrawals so you can withdraw your euros locally as you need them and not have to take a huge lump sum with you to France. ATMs will automatically offer you an English-language menu (along with a couple of other languages like German, Dutch and, naturally, French) when it recognises that your card is of non-French origin.
Retailers are less likely to accept Visa Electron, though many will take it. Just look out for the Visa Electron sign on the entrance door or at the checkout. |
