I suspect you don't know what you are asking for.

To begin with there is no such thing as a 5 star hotel in France as the rating system does not reach five stars.

If what you are asking for is the very highest rated hotels then I wonder if you understand what these cost. The cheapest room at the George V, for example, costs 695 euros a night. Prices for the other top rated hotels are in the same range.

If you can afford that price then the George V is a good choice ( http://www.fourseasons.com/paris/ ) as is the Raphael ( http://www.raphael-hotel.com/uk/navigation.htm ), or the Ritz ( http://www.ritz.com/home_ritz/home.asp?show_all=1 )

I'm going in March of next year and there is a Marriott property on the Champs Elyses.

If the cost is too high,

Check out on the left bank, I have stayed at the Hotel De Luxembourg, which is over by the Luxembourg garden. I believe it's a 2 or 3 star hotel. The rooms are a bit small compared to hotels I have stayed at in the USA, but they are very romantic and the setting and area is absolutely AWESOME!!!

Very central, as it is walking distance to a very active area where college students like to hang-out. It's also walking distance to the Metro/RER lines.

Best wishes on your vactaion, I hope you enjoy your time, Paris is my favorite all-time city!!!

it will be very hard to find a 5 * hotel in Paris, because there is no 5* in France
the best quality you can find is "four stars luxe", but 3 or 4 * are often very good.
I liked the Mercure Hotel, closed to Opera Garnier,

I liked staying near Place Vendome in the 1st. Very close to Jardin Tuileries and the river and easy walking distance to Museé D'Orsay, Louvre, and many other attractions. Central to 3 Metro stations as well and steps from taxi stands. We stayed at the Hotel Mansart on Rue des Capacines for 195 € a night, but right around the corner is the Ritz, if you really want 4 or 5 star quality, but you're gonna pay!
