is a brilliant website and quite cheap.

Gites-de-france is more expensive; I've rented the same place through both a couple of times and invariably the price goes up, also doesn't include travel and is a nightmare to navigate, half the English site just doesn't work.

Go to kayak.com, which will probably refer you to a few places on venere.com as well.

http://www.gites-de-france.com/fr/gites_ruraux is like a database of french 'gites' (holiday homes) and b & bs that all the good ones should be on. The page translates into english and you can choose which region you wish to stay in. they have an ears of corn system, which is like the stars system so you know how good the accomodation will be.
