I have always used this website:
http://www.123france.com
where you can select the hotels by star rating and localities and both. Seems to me the best one around.
A word of advice - do not expect big rooms and breakfast is at best frugal. If given a choice, buy it on the street from any bakery - they are all very good and reasonable. Other than that, Paris is my favorite place on this planet. |

Why do you not choose an unexpensive hotel and at the same time very well located, just that you can see all Paris during this week?Try Ascot Opera -rue Monsigny and it will be about 400-500 euros the whole week. |

My favorite hotel is within your price range. The Hotel St. Andres des Artes at 66 rue St. Andres des Artes in the 6th arrondisment has singles for 66 euros and doubles for 85 Euros a night which includes a free continental breakfast in the morning.
They are very popular so email them for a reservation at hsaintand@wannadoo.fr |

If you are comfortable staying at a hostel, then save money and try this one: http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostel020001.en.htm
I stayed there in springtime in 2004. It is clean and modern and breakfast is included. It is close to central Paris. |

Latin Quartier is the safest arrondisement (neighborhood) in Paris. Book your hotel early to save the most money, availability is taken up pretty quickly. www.tripadvisor.com has a lot of good hotel recommendations. Relatively easy to find cheap hotels on online sites (priceline, orbitz, etc).
However, if you decide to book online, please please check details by calling the hotel directly. I just went to Paris, booked online, and had major problems with the hotel (who said we booked for two people, not three) and they overcharged us 30 euros per night, due to the "extra" person. |
