I would like to visit the Paris catacombs. Are they open for the public? Are they safe?

yes it's open to the public but be advised that it will be closed MONDAY NOVEMBER 19, 2007 TO MONDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2008.

When I visited Paris for the 3rd time, I visited them. There are guided tours which are very fun. I would advise you to go, bring a torch with you though. My father is a teacher and he got on free because he had a teacher card from New-Zealand. Funny, EH?

yes it's open to the public. They are quite safe but they ask you to bring your own torchlight and wellington boots. Just buy the 'officiel des spectacles' when you get to paris and you'll have the times of opening and where to meet the guide.
