Can you drive a car at 17 in France?

i understand that the age for driving is 18 in France. If you are 17 and have a full license to drive in the US, is it valid in France?

In France you can drive at 16 but you always have to be accompanied by someone else. It's called the " conduite accompagnée ".

But if you want to drive on your own, you have to be at least 18.

So if you stay a while you might consider to be accompanied. Go to a driving school in France (auto-école) to get information.

no, you must be 18 sorry

nathan
Even if you have your licence already you have to be 18 to drive in France. If you do choose to drive, the french police would probably not notice that your date of birth on your licence doesnt match the driving age, but you would find yourself totaly uninsured in case of an accident.

lu2trav
Absolutely not! you need to be 18. Plus a US license is not valid in Eu. you may want to check your status with an international driver's license! it might work!!!
