Why would foreign authorities care about the fact that you haven't renewed your British car tax? You'd only be in trouble in the UK, not in France.
The French police enforce French laws, not English ones, and would have no idea what this car tax is that you are talking about. So you needn't worry, at least not on the French side of the Tunnel. |

You will not get into trouble in France for not having your tax disc, but you may get into trouble when you return to the UK, either because someone spots it (unlikely) or because the DVLA computer spots that it hasn't been renewed. If payment is the issue, I would suggest that you go to a post office the day before and pay for your tax disc using a cheque, as this will not hit your bank account until after you have been paid. You can renew your tax disc up to 2 weeks before it expires. |

the french abolished the tax on cars 3 or 4 years ago it was called the vignette.you only have to display in your screen a valid mot and insurance if you live in france |

don't know what you're talking about .....
you've got car tax when you live in france, not when you're tourist.
are you talking about "péage autoroutier" ? it's what you pay when you use some highway.... |

I would worry more because your car insurance will be invalid. If you had a prang, and claimed on your insurance, they would reject the claim because you hadn't complied with the law .... and then you could be prosecuted for driving without insurance!
You can buy car tax on line at the DVLA website. |

Don't worry, it's free in France, the French government stopped taxing vehicles few years' ago, but then you have to pay motorway toll, it's called autoroute péage.
Anyway, the Gendemarie very rarely check and stop foreign cars, especially one marked GB. |

If you do not have a valid tax-disc on your car means that your insurance is invalid whatever country you are in so you will be driving illegally. |

France is a lawless country so it shouldn't be a problem. |
