Cheap hotels in Paris for students?

7 girls and I are going to Paris for our uni course, and we are looking for a cheap hotel/hostel which we can all stay in. Our university is funding our stay there; they are giving us £25 a night each. Can anybody suggest somewhere that is safe, clean, and not too far from the centre

I think you might need to add to the budget a little. I live in Nanterre (a Parisian suberb about 10 mins on the train from paris) and the cheapest hotels here are 40 pounds.

try this site, i've booked with them before and as long as you go by rating they're pretty much ok. Just make sure you get in a good area in Paris as some areas are rough.

I stayed at a cheap hostel when I was there for less than that. Also, you can check here for cheap hostels and cheap hotels that are nice:

At current exchange rates (which change every day) £25 is about 31€.

My favorite little hotel, the St. Andre des Arts, which is in in almost the exact geographic center of Paris in an area that is very lively and filled with cafes, bars, restaurants and shops, has four person rooms for 124€ which includes breakfast and all taxes. http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006saintandredesarts.htm

The Hotel des Allies, also very well located not far from the Luxembourg Gardens and the Sorbonne has doubles for as little as 55€ and some triples for 88€. However, no breakfast is included and shower facilites are shared in some rooms. http://www.alliesparishotel.com/

The Hôtel Tiquetonne, on the right Bank at 6 rue Tiquetonne, is a well known cheap sleep, with doubles for 50€. They have no internet presence so you have to call or fax for reservations. Phone: 01-42-36-94-58 Fax: 01-42-36-02-94

The Auberge Internationale des Jeunes is a hostel, not quite so well located but not that far from the center either. Dorm rooms with breakfast included are as little as 14€ a night per person. http://www.aijparis.com/framea.htm

I went to Paris last october on a budget, 4 of us stayed in one room (two singles and a double bed) it was £99 a night so worked out £25 each. It was pretty basic but definatley clean and tidy and friendly staff. It was called Paris-Rome and was on Rue de Provence in the 9th Arr. We booked through easyjet.com but the hotel bit, but i've looked and i don't think they still have it on. It's very central but an all day train ticket was about a euro and the trains run about every 3 minutes!

You have the formula one hotels, they work out at about 46Euros per room, so if 2 are staying in each room, you can afford it.
Depends where you are doing your uni course, choose the nearest one from that list: http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/reservation/liste_hotels.shtml

I would recommend checking out BookMe.com... You can compare all the major travel websites in 60 seconds, and only search for the ones you want. Keep checking, and eventually you find a GREAT deal! And they only search reputable/reliable sites, so you won't need to worry about anything.

You don't say how long you will be staying and if you don't book a long time ahead it may difficult to stay many consecutive nights in a hotel, especially as a large group, so I'll add another address to Rillifane's list in case you need it: http://www.cisp.fr/cisp/index.asp?ln=us

This place has two accomodation centers in Paris near convenient métro lines and I know it's clean and safe (+ you can have your other meals there). If you all stay in the room for 8, it's 19.30 € a night including breakfast but there is no private bathroom. If you prefer two 4-person rooms with private bathrooms (at the Maurice Ravel center), then it's 26.60 € a night including breakfast.

You could also consider renting a furnished apartment for 1,700 €/week or 7,200 €/month maximum (= 30 € a night per person). Here is one in the Bastille district with 8 beds for only 980 €/week: http://www.homelidays.com/paris-11-bastille/apartment-flat61048en1.htm
