Surprisingly, there are many things that you can do in Paris without "breaking the bank". You can buy three-, five- and ten-day passes for the Metro, bus and train; all together.
You can also purchase museum passes. You can see the Eiffel Tower(you don't have to go in), same with the Arc de Triumphe. You must see the Tower at night; they have millions of the white twinkle lights that are on ten minutes of each hour. If I remember correctly, Notre Dame does not have an admission charge. The previous post about McDonald's is right; their burgers are much better than the ones here too! Just get out and walk; some of the out of the way shops are unbelievable! One thing I would recommend is taking the two hour cruise on the Seine; you will be able to see where all of the monuments are located and be able to navigate much better. Have a great trip; wish I was going with you!

You can walk around numerous parks and gardens: Jardin du Luxembourg, Palais Royal, Jardin des Plantes.

You can visit some beautiful churches: Notre Dame de Paris, Sacre Coeur.

You can stroll through street markets on rue Montorgueil, rue Mouffetard, and rue Cler. I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that I know.

While at the street market, buy the stuff to have a picnic by the Seine.

Wander through famous parts of the city: le Quartier Latin, Montmartre, le Marais, le Place des Voges.

Hang out to see and be seen around le Centre Georges Pompidou.

You can absorb the ambiance, enjoy the architecture, and sit all afternoon in a sidewalk cafe nursing one coffee or one glass of wine.

Many museums offer free admission on the first Sunday of each month, so if you happen to be there at that time, take advantage of that opportunity. My favorite is Musee d'Orsay. I also like Musee Rodin.

My favorite is to wander around Gare Montparnasse.

Paris is around 30% more expensive than Toronto. And it's REALLY busy!!! Back in 2001 when I was there, they had no subway day pass. So you should buy 10-ride tickets for the subway. Nothing is really cheap there, so it's a good idea to buy your food at grocery stores rather than go to restaurants. And you will climb a lot of stairs in train stations. Escalators are not popular there. Half the places I went to, people could speak English, which really surprised me.

U can eat at Mc Donalds.
