Cherbourg day trip on foot or take car?

we are planning a day trip to cherbourg and wondering if we could manage without the car, is there enough to entertain us for roughly 5 hours within walking distance of the port. any visitor attractions or good shopping area. thanks

Go by foot. The city is great. Lots of shops and cafes! IN walking distance of the port. All i can say is take a big bag for all the shoppping!

Depends on what you want to bring back.
You will need a car if you want to bring booze back once you see the prices you wont be able to carry much.
