Converse shoes in Paris? |
I know it is not fashionable to wear American style tennis shoes in Paris, but I have heard recently that people there are wearing Converse Chuck Taylors.
Is this true? I have gone through many many pairs in my life and have found them to be quite comfortable when walking, so it would be nice to see the city in them!
I am 23 years old, if age makes any difference! |

I would advise not wearing gym shoes, that is a standout way to look like a tourist. However, fashion tennis shoes are alright such as a sleek trainer and you'll see many Europeans wearing this style of shoe.
Chuck Taylors have been a big trend in Europe the last season and will be fine to wear. And age does not make a difference as I have seen young and old sport them with Parisian flair.

As long as you're not wearing obviously blindingly white tennis shoes, you're fine. You'll see people there in all sorts of things, anyway. |

I think most of the "travel guides" encourage Americans not to wear tennis shoes in Paris. I also think that's a bunch of bunk! I've gone many times and worn sneakers and no one has stoned me. The French are wearing sneaks, too! In a beautiful city that is all about walking; you should be comfortable. Good luck and have a wonderful and comfy trip! |
