several meanings over time- doomsday, demolition, mostly day-day or day of days.

D-Day, like H-Hour, is just a way to designate a starting time.

James O
I don't think it stands for anything, just a code name. I think that every amphibious landing Americans achieved during the second world war were also called "D-Days"

D-day. The unnamed day on which a particular operation commences or is to commence

Unfortunately, we found little mention about the literal meaning of the term "D-Day." Several sites noted that it was a code name for the actual day of the invasion, but none seemed willing to elaborate.

You can find your answer at the link I provide below. Hope this helps.

The “D” does not stand for "Deliverance", "Doom", "Debarkation" or similar words. In fact, it does not stand for anything. The “D” is derived from the word "Day". “D-Day” means the day on which a military operation begins. The term "D-Day" has been used for many different operations, but it is now generally only used to refer to the Allied landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944.
