Apart from shows and historical displays people in south of France wear regular clothes. And most of the people who live there come from... south of France. This was a heavily populated area long before modern times. However, there's also a big north African population as the weather is more to their liking than the much colder northern France and Marseille was a place that needed plenty of immigrants in the 60's.

Hey!

In south of France, during christmas, we wear normal clothes and we're not all italian or spanish!!

We just have a tradition consisting wearing traditional clothes for some events.

But most people is weared normally!!

The people who live in southern France are from Italy, or Spain. (there might also be some french people but they are really rare)
And they don't wear special clothes for christmas.
