As here in the US that depends on the person. Generally they are energetic, light spirited and fun - the ones I like. Is this true about the other french? I don't know because I probably didn't get to know them. The problem with anyone's generalization is that it is based on the types of people one gets know. I remember some surly types from whom stayed my distance.
I found many French, curious and thoughtful - always good qualities. I like that they can be stubborn and set in their ways at times, it gives them consistency in their culture. I like that if you are respectful you are in turn treated with respect ( I don't know about Paris) and this admirable that if one is not treated with respect it is not given out freely then. I love the passion for art and music, and aesthetics in all senses. Sometimes people get opinionated about such topics and can be a little annoying but the passion for the role of it in society I love. I love that they believe in the afternoon rest and really stopping to eat. I love that you can find a good place to eat every 15 minutes where ever you are or at least coffee. I love that people stop to have coffee and stop working for a little break mid summer.
Thus it is a mindset and pace, a way of life that I appreciate, but how do the French keep up with the rest of the world like that I sometimes wonder. I would move if I could but that paper work to accomplish anything is insane! |

I love the French people. I don't like it how everyone says they are snooty and mean. They really aren't. Je parle un peu Francais. I love the language, and i was in France this summer and fell in love with it anymore. My grandma is part french and she always would tell me like certain french words when i was little like au revoir and fermes la porte and bonjour. And ever since then i just liked French and i wanted to take French in high school, and now im taking my second year of it and i love it!! |

They are smart, elegant, intelligent, intellectual and they know how to eat good food and enjoy the good life. What's there not to like? Btw I'm not French. |

In general, I love French people, I love France, I love French customs and everything French. :) I am American, but my dad who was adopted by French people, who are my loving grandparents, has dual citizenship for the US and France. Since going there for the very first time, I had what I would probably a culture shock and felt that since that first visit, a piece of my heart has remained in France. Since then, i have been going every summer and almost during every end of the December's. My grandparents love telling me things about French people, the good and the bad, and I've also learned alot from my boyfriend too who is French. :) I feel like I will be living in France, its what I want, and when that does happen, I'll feel like I've gotten a piece a part of my heart back :) |

In general I like French people, the people in the north are really friendly but aren't extremely open to new things, the Parisians have a really bad reputation and foreigners who don't know france they judge france on the Parisians.
I don't know much about the southerners but almost every french person I've met has been nice, most of the stereotypes are wrong but they do make nice food.
The french tend to be picky with their language, if someone doesn't try to speak French they'll be extremely rude, which I totally agree with, but it makes certain rude tourists think the French themselves are rude, I've seen this happen myself. |
