Do you like the French? |
The french have a reputation for being quite rude people, and i have found on my many trips there for business that they are rude about the american, and sometimes even the english. what do you think about them, cos they sure dont seem to mind telling us what they think about us! |

The French hate Americans as much as anyone else hates Americans. You guys are hated in most countries because of your arrogance. you think that if you go to another country that you should be treated like some form of superior beings. Almost all of Europe hates you guys.
I'm Canadian, and even though we're neighbours and pretty much have everything in common you guys still think you're better than us. We've had to deal with some pretty bad Americans, but we've also met many awesome Americans. Thing is you usually just remember the bad and thus judge a people by that, hence why people hate you.
It's not a personal attack against you, it's just that the majority of the American population is like that. So it's not that the French are rude, it's just that you guys aren't used to being told where to shove it. |

I just returned from a week in Paris. I don't speak much french but I ALWAYS tried. We only ran into one rude Parisian and that was after the girl I was with asked "do you speak English?" to the waiter. He responded in French, "No this is France, in France we speak French". Other than that, everyone was pleasant. The thing is, they ALL speak English, but don't want to. So try out your French and if it is easier for them, they will respond in English. One waitress in La Marais was so nice, she spoke French to me even though mine was poor and even commented "you said it perfectly" once. Needless to say it was very encouraging. I wish more of them smiled (no one does), but in all, I LOVE France, and the French. |

The French are a very interesting people as a whole. They have had a rich history, ranging from the famous Les Misérables revolution, to WWII and the fall of Paris. Just as Americans, there are many good and bad French. This ranges from Robespierre to Joan of Arc.
Honestly though, I think that the French do have some of the best food in the world, and their markets are amazing. The wine is superb and the cheeses are the best in the world. They do not know how to fight though, and tend to give up on things easily as a country.
I found that in my travels to France and the rest of Europe that generally, if a person tries to speak in the nations native language, the people tend to be much nicer. Even if all you know is "Do you Speak English" but can say it in their language, things tend to go well. I know basic French, so I can have a very general conversation, but that is it. It does help though, because one time I was in Switz and at a restaurant they said they didn't speak English. I then began to talk in French, and they were immidietly happy to help me.
In the end, you must make an effort to try and converse in the native language. Just as if someone come to America, we expect English, not their native language. They certainly expect the same courtesy when we are visiting them. |

I've been to France. Yeah, they were pretty rude to us. I'm from America.
It's been known that they don't like Americans (but not in a bad way) |

Honestly, I think are very cultured people. They had a Revolution! They are good in the arts, and etc. They have great writers and intellectuals.
Philosophers....fashions etc. I think they are overrated though including their food. |
