The official colours of France are blue white red, those are the colours of the French flag.
Blue and red were the colours of Paris. White was the colour of royalty, for divine purity, and was added to the colours of the revolutionary guard of Paris by Lafayette. It became the official colours of the revolution.

@ Tim: the French flag is blue, white & red and not red white & blue!

Austerlitz
@TIM : like in Verdun or Bir-Hakeim...
Friedrich von Mellenthin, one of the staff officers of the Afrika Korps, would write after the battle of Bir-Hakeim that he 'had not ever been confronted, during the whole desert campaign, to such a relentless and heroic defence".
Have a nice day my dear.

sesso
Blue is the main national colour. Red and white are on the flag. So its a bit like the USA.

TIM
The french flag is also Red, White and Blue but they have been known to wave a pure White flag on many occasions.
