Yes , passports are required for babies these days and the cost (UK) has just gone up to pay for the new biometric version and consular help ( so they say) !

floss
Yes they do, even if you live in Europe and entering another European country you still need a passport! Not an ID card as one of the answers suggest! I had to take my baby into a photo booth and hold him up to get his passport photo done. I couldn't be in the picture so it was difficult and funny holding him up in the air trying to judge where his head should be! And It lasts for 5 years.

Yes! A child cannot go on a parent's passport any more.

The website below will give you all the information you will need. But do it soon if you have a holiday booked - or you will have to go to the passport office in person to get it. It is worth taking the passport form to a large post office. It costs a little, but they will check over the stuff and make sure it is correct. That can save a lot of problems later! It also ensures it is sent quickly to the passport office.

My daughter needed one when we took her to France at the age of 3 months. The picture was taken at about 7 days old. She then had the passport for 5 years. It could have been any white child (male or female!)

Yes. And you should check with your family doctor too and make sure that there aren't any immunizations that you might need before you travel.

you dont mention from where you willl be coming, if from europe possibly an ID card will suffice as its EU, however if you are travelling from anywhere else your child will have to have a passport, not just to enter france, but to exit country of origin.
