No, the Arc de Triomphe is closed on public holidays and 1st May is a public holiday throughout Europe (Labour Day).
Sorry.

I checked several French web sites and they said it was closed on May 1.

I saw that there was some confusion on whether the Arc de triomphe is open on May 1st. Just wanted to confirm that it is NOT open. It is closed on "bank holidays". You can still visit it, of course; You just can't go up.

fajitajamboree
Should be. About 300 steps to the top, FYI. Great views, better than the Eiffel Tower in my opinion.
