pap.fr is good, BUT the ads come out on Thursday morning and everything is pretty much gone come the afternoon. Check it when the ads come out and call quickly to set up a time to visit each place.

there is also fusac.fr, a free magazine in English for expats/students/anglos in Paris that has a bunch of ads, mostly from people and not agencies.

As for average price, a studio or one bedroom in Paris is going to be in the 500-1500 euros a month range. It all depends on the location, size, extras, etc with the 500/m being somewhat akin to a large closet with a futon in it. OK, I am exaggerating a bit, but flats are expensive in Paris.

Today is the day!
Here are some sites that I have used in the past good luck!

Also try www.appartager.fr, it's a site to look for roommates. They make reunions each thursday at a bar near Gare de Montparnasse, at the Rue du Départ (i've forgotten the name, but it should be on the webpage)

Re: which area to choose. Be wary of Montmartre. It's pretty by day, but becomes the red light district at night!

There are at least a hundred apartments for short term rent. I tried several sites - Try "Paris rental apartments" and this should lead you to other sites. I am going at the end of March for a week and found just what I was looking for after much research. I found that apartments are cheaper than hotels. Make sure that it is in a safe area. I chose one that is about 100 ft. from the Seine and very close to Notre Dame. Good luck!
