The minimum age is 18 but a lot of hotels require 21 in France.
It's a pain because when we travel as a family, I have to be booked in one room and my husband in the other, even though we get connecting rooms and request three beds for one room and one big one for the other so it's obvious how we're going to do the sleeping arrangements. But they're really strict.
They will ask for your passport so there's no fudging.
If you're under 18, a good option would be Youth Hostels.

I did this when I was younger. I saved a ton of money, met tons of people from all over the world and it was a lot of fun. Much better than being isolated in a hotel room. It's not as cushy as a hotel (usually) but the experience made up for it.
Yes, they often have double rooms too so dorms aren't obligatory. Sort of the best of both worlds... |

you share a double bedroom with a double bed in it or it might have 2 single beds in the bedroom and you have to be 18 years or more but not related like brother and sister |

Any age - the hotel owner can refuse to let somebody stay if they want to, but there is no law.
Until March '06, women could get married at 15 in France, so French people will not think it is unusual for people of this age to book a room.
Most European countries are very relaxed about sex compared to Britain and America. |

like the French really care! Just book it and go with it- as long as its not a paedo situation they couldn't care less how old you are. The French are really cool about regs/legalities |

It's veeeeeery relaxed over here, no one will ask, no one cares (as long as it looks like both parties wish to be sharing a room!!) |

I am French and I have never heard of any age regulation. People are allowed to go anywhere they want at any age. Now it depends who you are going with. If you are with an adult or have parental permission, no problem. But if a hotel manager sees two children with no parents trying to book a room, they might think the kids have run away from home and contact the police. What's your situation? How old are you?
The only place where they card is discos (you need to be 18) and cinemas when there is an age restriction for a particular film type (and even there, it's rare, you'd have to look MUCH younger than the required age and go and see a REALLY violent or porn film).
Have fun in France! |
