In general whether it's Paris or other cities their fashion is generally seems to gravitate more towards a simple elegance. Cuts that flatter, clothes that are fitted, and nothing too flashy. And I don't think I've ever seen many people (if any) wearing any boots which are big and chunky (think of how big and stumpy they make your foot look). This is just based on my observation from my friends and people watching in Geneva, Paris and southwest France over the course of 2 years.

You should wear whatever stuff you enjoy wearing and that defines you although I understand if you don't want to wear things that will make stick out like a sore American thumb. It's also fun to study the styles of another culture and take some hints from them. I would say leave the boots at home unless you're really attached.

Your question made me think abvout this and it occurred to me that in 35 years of regular visits to Paris I can't recall ever seeing anyone of any age wearing rainboots (by which I mean the big heavy boots with clasps or zippers.)

I do recall seeing women (but not men) wearing very light weight, clear plastic, little pull over booties.

I never saw it when I lived in the Loire Valley, it might be different in other areas though.

Out in the country, not in the city.
Who cares anyway, they're jerks. Don't ever go there!

I don't know, but Frenchmen are pretty weird.
