The song "La vie en rose" is a really famous French one used in tons of movies, commercial, shows etc internationally. Countless artists have covered this song, originally by Edith Piaf. Have a look at the wiki article, it lists out performances and movies and shows that are related to this song. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Vie_en_rose )

Example of use in Wall-E : video of the part where the song was played (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naY9nHay18A ), this song is the version by Louis Armstrong

Another song (also a classic) is "La Mer" by Charles Trenet. It is also often featured in movies, perhaps not so much with commercial that I am aware of. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Mer_(song) )

Moving away from classics like these, how about the success of Daft Punk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daft_Punk ) in international scene? Their hit songs such as "One More Time", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" are huge and have been used in commercials, new incorporation into other artists's work e.g. Kanye West's Stronger.

I hope these helps. If I can think of any others, I'll add on more later.

* Update *

I talked of songs by Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet that are now considered as classics, and I also mentioned Daft Punk which would be of contemporary music. I can't believe I forgot about classical music.

Classical music scores are often familiar to us without us realising exactly where it came from (unless you're big into classical music and operas). They're quite often used in movies or commercials for dramatic purposes (since they're often instrumental). A couple of the famous French composers are Georges Bizet (famously wrote the opera Carmen) and Claude Debussy (mostly compositions for piano). E.g. try listening to these media composed by Bizet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Bizet#Media ) - any of them sound familiar? ;)
