Hi/ Bonjour!
How do you say "kernel" in french as in a kernel of popcorn? I have looked on translation websites and one says "graine" and the other says "amande".
Also, how do you say "pop' as in popping popcorn?
Thanks/ merci! Additional Details I already know how to say popcorn, it's mais a éclater, or mais souffleé. |

Salut,
C'est grain de maïs. Popcorn c'est maïs à eclater. Eclater ça veut dire "to burst" : ) |

A kernel of corn is "un grain de maïs".
Popcorn is "pop-corn" in France, never "maïs à éclater" (maybe in other French-speaking countries but in France no one would know what you are talking about, people use the American word).
And "maïs soufflé" doesn't mean popcorn either in France, it usually refers to corn flakes (although once again, most French people will just use the American word). In Canadian French though I believe they do say "maïs soufflé" for popcorn, but definitely not in France. |

well i mean in everyday french, you just say popcorn (with a french accent) but the literal translation is mais a eclater (with accents on the i, a and e). graine means seed and amande means almond. i would go with graine |

I Can Speak FrenCH.I'm HAitian.
Well You say Popcorn, the same way in french as in english.
Same for Pop..Or for something meaning the same thing "bruit sec"
Meaning Pop.
Kernel Is already French.. It's Popcorn.
"maïs soufflé" is the right translation for "popcorn".
