calais is the worst place in france, but it's still better than most of britain. most of the people are either english or french who are sick of the english.
my experience is that if you can get out of calais, even 20mins in a car will get you to some fantastic places where the people are real, the food is good and it's you can really experience the things france is good at.
go south down the coast to wissant, wimereux or boulogne.

Au CĂ´te d'Argent,
1 Digue Gaston Berthe,
62100 CALAIS

It is next to the sea, the fish dishes are delicious. The clean and spacious restaurant has panoramic views over the Channel. You can enjoy a wonderful meal while watching ships sail in and out of the Port.
