My favorite hotel is the the St. Andre des Artes at 66 rue St. Andre des Artes. (Metro stop:Odeon) Its funky but clean and really cheap, 85 Euros a night with breakfast included. You should email them for a reservation (they are VERY popular) at: hsaintand@wannadoo.fr

When I went to Paris I stayed at the Batignolles Villiers Hotel ( http://www.hotel-paris-batignolles.com/index.htm )
A very charming hotel. SUPER clean. Friendly staff.Safe area. 5 min from metro. The rooms are kinda small but have everything you need.Private bathroom,tv,etc.. and a balcony with a view. They have an AWESOME breakfast ( in the basement, it was so cute) The internet prices range from 60 - 90 dollars. Def worth a look.

And for the Restaurants. I dont remember anyplace specific, but there are so many lil cafes and bakeries everywhere you look. Dont worry about that.

Well, I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want normal and boring, then there are plenty of places that will keep you comfortable but fail to thrill.

On the other hand, if you really want to embrace Paris, I'd highly recommend 'Dauphine Saint Germain Hotel' on Rue Dauphine in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Our family stayed there for a week a couple years back, and had a blast! It is a truly unique and quirky little place. Small rooms, but great character. And besides, this is Paris - you won't be in your room except to sleep.

The hotel is very close to the major sites - walking distance to Eiffel in one direction and Notre Dame in the other. And the street life is vibrant and life-giving.

As for restaurants, there are a huge number right around the corner from the hotel - everything from fine dining to open air cafes - and they are excellent.

The hotel doesn't have its own website, but I'm attaching a link that shares some info on the hotel ... Travel Advisor offers some good reviews and pics.
