Good shopping street with Eiffel tower in background?

OK this is sort of a spin-off of my previous question--

What's a good street one can shop at where you can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance? And how can I get there from Charles de Gaulle Airport?

none that I can think of.
You could try to go to the tower and them headto Les Halles (big shopping center) but you need to be careful with time.
I think CDG to Les Halles is near 40min ride one way.

If you want to see the Tower, you have 2 ways to get there, both may be same on time.
- RER from CDG to Les halles on ligne B2/B4 south. go to station "St Michel". once at St Michel, get on another RER train west toward versaille (Ligne C5,C7 or C8) and stop at the Eiffel Tower (Champs de mars), then walk a few hundre meters west on the river bank and you'll be at the foot of the tower. not the best view but the closest.

or

- from CDG, RER B2/B4 south to "Les Halles". In les halles, change to RER ligne A1 and stop at "Champs Elysees". Then, in the same station, take the "Metro" direction "Pont de Sevres" and stop at "Trocadero. get our of the station and you'll see the tower across the river. beautiful spot.

You can do some shopping on Champs Elysees (hop on the metro the way you came) or you do the return journey and stop in Les Halles. that's a full blast shopping mall.

May I suggest that if you have a stop over in Paris and this is the only chance you get, that you forget the shopping and do some sightseeing instead. Go to the tower by RER / Metro, and then hop on the river bus aiming East toward Notre Dame, and Catch the RER back to CDG from St Michel or from les Halles.

For a map of the RER or Metro (Both are train system in Paris - very convenient), try the RATP site or http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteparis.php

RER is a fast train system so they link the airport to some stations in Paris. The Metro is a slower train system within paris.

Good luck

I would visit Galleries Lafayette.
It's a famous department store in the Opera area and you can see the Eiffel Tower from the top floor.

I can't think of any shopping street in Paris where you can see the Eiffel Tower in the background, certainly not the Champs Elysees as the buildings block any view of the Eiffel Tower.

Montparnasse is on a hill and has some great views of the Eiffel Tower, and there's good shopping in Rue du Bonaparte, but it will still be hard to get glimpses of the Tower due to buildings.

From CDG get the RER into Paris and Metro to whereever you decide to shop. Check on-line for Metro maps and train references. If you decide on Montparnasse, then get the Air France bus to Gare Montparnasse and you'll be in the heart of this area. It costs around 16euros each way.

why none other than the famous Champs-Elysées. Some of the best shopping in the entire country
