Has anyone been to Antibes?

What was it like, is it good for families, was it expensive, what are the beaches like, anything else you think is relevant?

Hi,
Actually Antibes is not too bad, there is a lovely centre, which can be visited within couple of hours... the rest is buidings from the sixties and seventies... nothing special.
It is a very very touristical place, and also as someone wrote very anglosaxon. Lots of boaties live there, also there are some international companies in Sophia Antipolis nearby with lots of pommies... So they all live in Antibes... so it is not very french anymore :-) so if you want to be away from english language, that is not the place to stay...
What is good with Antibes, is that you have train to Nice, monaco, italy, or on the other way, to Cannes, Frejus and Marseille.
Personally i would stay in Cannes, it is better shopping, more convenient, and personnally i think it is nicer. More restaurants, and hotels.

Good luck

Antibes is known for its British community, you can actually find british supermarkets overthere and English is spoken almost everywhere.

I've been only twice in this area.
Good place for everyone. But there are many people in summer, so much trafic to drive with your car, and the small beaches are with croud. But very cool places, little typical restaurants and sun garantee !
Young people and teenagers like because there are many disco.
There is also a wonderful dolphinarium to see absolutely.

Many beautiful little towns to see not far from Antibes with local artisanal art : Biot for example.

It's a good place to spend 1 or 2 weeks.
More calm in June than in July and August.

We liked Antibes but it is expensive you can see some photos here http://www.a-taste-of-france.com/antibes-france.html

I have lived nearby.
It is the best place in CĂ´te d'Azur because the centre is well-preserved and authentic. Only problem is you should have a car because the system of public transportation is quite archaic...

Yes nice little place, good for families, not expensive, beach is all pebbles though. You can catch the train at the station there and go all along the coast to Cannes, Nice, Monte Carlo etc.. for days out too.
