Has anyone been to Macon in France?

I will be staying in Geneva and am thinking about taking a day trip into Macon for some wine tasting? Has anyone been? Any suggestions?

Believe me Macon is a boring city. Beaune, as suggested by my fellow countrygirl is much nicer and if you are interested in wine tasting, it is definitely the place to go.

except for the wine there is nothing to do in Macon! I'm French and live near Beaune (good wine!!!!!!!) you should come to Beaune if you have the time!

David
I haven't, but I've found the following sites, which I hope you'll find useful. (I recommend just e-mailing them via the contact page- the second link I'm enclosing- because the English content seems to be very limited.) Have a great trip!

In Macon there is also the Saone river, but it's true that is not a very funny town (I know it, my sister lives there). But it is true that the wine is cheaper than in Beaune (but that is not the same wine either!). The best places to see in this area are not in Macon but in villages round the town (Solutré for example). Beaune is a better place for tourists, 80 kms away in the North. Whatever Bourgogne is a wonderful place to visit. I'm from this place that is why I say that, but it's true that is a lovely region!!!
