If so how what city did you stay in and did you enjoy your stay? I want to surprise my grandmother with tickets to france because she has always dreamed of going to france.

a very sweet idea.
Against previous comments, Paris or France is not expensive, you can make it expensive if you do your trip US way... lol
Euro is expensive against $ this is true : $ dropped 50% down in exchange rate since you got some guy running your country all my US friends says, so that Paris is not expensive, just everywhere outside the US is now expensive...
Paris is cheaper than London or Berlin...
Of course, if you want to stay only at Marriott or Four Seasons, only eat at three stars restaurants and shop at Chanel, Dior, ...
But if you consider having fun at decent price and get the trip of her life for your Mammy, you can do with reasonable budget.
Decent hotels can be found on several US web sites like lastminute and don't hesitate to use the bidding function : it is working, a friend of mine did stay at Hilton for less than 100$ a night when list says 480 Euros... it is just not working for the Xmas week ;-)
A suggestion : have first your grandma read the Da Vinci Code and prepare a them travel : you will get her to all Paris places described in th book. It is very easy to prepare and a lot of fun.
no need to say also something to tell all her friends when back...
Concentrate on a reasonable target : you won't see all in five days and your grandma is not an athlete ; Paris is big and large city.
Ask at your hotel about nice and good price value restaurant around, they know and they will be proud to give you some "secret kept" local address.
RULE ONE : be friendly to the people and they will love to help grandma and sweet grand daughter...
Be arrogant and they will tell you Mc Donald as the best place in town...

Nice thought :-)

Paris is obviously a great city, but you could also consider Nice or Strasbourg. For a first time stay, go for Paris and enjoy Louvre, a good restaurant, Montmatre, Place de la Concorde etc.

Have a great trip.

Good girl, congratulations ! I was many times across all France. But, for your "granma", I'll suggest, first of all Paris: some hours in Montmartre, others along the Seine, a walk on Champs Elysees and Quartier Latin with the charm of the old Paris. For relax, few steps, Jardin du Luxembourg. If you have time and money I'm sure that a visit to the Cote D'Azur (Nice and Monte Carlo) will be a wonderful surprise for her. Bon voyage!
