I love traveling to Paris. I'm planning my seventh trip there. There is so much to see and do.

Where else can you see the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa, a roomful of van Goghs, ride a bateau-mouche along the Seine, stroll the Champs-Elysees and dine on escargot...all in one day?

Don't worry about people intentionally insulting you. They won't, for the most part. The French are very cordial, very formal. If you make an attempt to speak their language, they'll be more friendly if they see you're making a concerted effort to speak French.

Granted, you may run into a jerk...but jerks are all over the place. The many wonderful experiences you will have in Paris will make up for it.

It was awesome. I spent a month in Paris and it was a blessed. Before i went there, I heard about ppl saying that Parisian are stuckedup ppl and wont speak to u in English, but hey, u never know how it like out there if u never try, right? I spent the whole time going sight-seeing, and there are lots to see so u're not really bored. I spent my time travelling alone and u can imagine how it be...but i met with some nice ppl who are willing to help me when i lost direction. And having to sit in a cafe drinking coffee and eating sandwiches or even in a park, watching ppl going thru & fro, as u read a book with a beautiful scenery around you, just makes it special. So, just give it a try....there's always a first time to everything even if the rumors are bad. If u dont find out by yourself, you wouldnt know how it would be.

First, ignore the ignorant idiots who say the French don't like Americans and won't speak to you. If you at least approach them with "Bonjour," and ask politely, responding with "merci" (thank you), you won't have any trouble.

Second, I lived in Paris for two years. I loved every minute of it. I hope you go; it's a beautiful city.

It is the second most amazing place I've been to next to Spain. Make sure you stay for quite a while (at least a week) in order to see all the sights and get a lot of rest. There's tons to see and do in Paris alone. You probably need passing French or a tourguide to find your way around. Otherwise, most of the main attraction areas have many people who speak English, Spanish, or German. The buildings are gorgeous although most cities look more like American slums because of the lack of funds for constant upkeep and all the grafiti, which to them is art. See everything you possibly can if you go. It's beautiful!

Paris sucks... my friend got arrested for getting in a fight, thing is, he was fighting a guy who was later found out to be on France's 10 most wanted list...so after a strip search... he was commended and let go....When I went....the service at all restaraunts sucked... We left many due to poor service without paying... They will stare you down in disgust. Yea, nice sights, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph, champs de elysses (spelling) its all nice... however the country is crap... Sorry all the french people who are reading... Go else where in Europe... Switzerland, Austria, C. Republic, Italy... MANY better places than France... Oh well, take care

I went to Paris last month. it was great. language thing is not a big deal. those who know English and will try to use it. mostly people who work with a lot of tourist can speak enough English to make a sale. every french person was nice. but do learn enough french to order what you want.

Paris is great and don't be afraid, not all French are stuck up!
Learn a couple of simple phrases in French and approach people with a smile (as opposed to the above suggestion of leaving without paying - no wonder nobody likes this guy!) and they'll be happy to talk.
Paris is one of the most wonderful and exciting cities of the world and most people are open and friendly, they know how to party and the museums are unbelievable. No matter what time, there is always some fun happening going on...
Go for it, you'll love it!

Yes. It was the greatest experience of my life. Definately go to the Louvre, there is no place like it. Walk up and down the Champs Elysees and eat lunch or have a drink in one of the outdoor cafes. The Arc de Triumohe is there and if you take a bus you can go to Sacre Couer and an Artist's square. Buy a book about France and plan your trip from there. I would recommend not taking a tour company though.
You should know a good amount of French. Not every Frenchman is the stereotypical American hating person, but they do get annoyed by us. Wait to get Euros outside of the airport at a local bank in France because the exchange rate sucks at airports.
