Have you flown from the US to Paris, France? |
If my airplane flies from Dallas TX to Paris, France, what route would it take? Would it cross the whole Atlantic Ocean through the middle or would it go through the north Atlantic ocean?
I'm just afraid that the airplane can crash into the ocean.. The ocean is just so huge I'm afraid something horrible will happen. I really want to visit Paris but I'm scared of the airplane flying so far.
Any experiences? |

You will sleep during most of the trip... or maybe not with an enthusiastic 18 months baby. Your plane will go through the north Atlantic Ocean as France is bordered by it. In fact if I remember my geography lessons Paris is further north than Thunder Bay in Canada. So you are definitely going north.
I take the plane twice a month, on shorter routes true, but still flying over seas and land. The only problem with the sea is that it is boring. There's nothing to look at while over land when you can see the ground there's plenty of interesting stuff to look at. Usually you don't see much with all the clouds. So if baby keeps you awake take a few books and magazines to read, or watch the film, nothing else to see. Except the rising of the sun. Or dusk. Depends when you are leaving. It is beautiful. Keep your camera in your hand bag for that.
As for crashing, the air companies have managed to bring me to a heart attack a few times, usually over crushed or lost luggage (once left right under the plane, I could see it from my seat!), late flights or cancelled flights, go through the dratted customs half-naked because the bleeping gate keeps beeping, and just plain fury at the whole mess, but I haven't had a flight problem in 20 years. |

I've flown that exact route, Dallas to Paris, dozens of times over the last 30+ years.
Statistically, you are safer flying than you are walking across the street in your home town or even taking a bath in your own house. |

I flew American Airlines Phoenix to Chicago and then to Paris.
Ocean is ocean don't worry about the route. You're safer in the plane than you are in your car. Relax and enjoy Paris. It is beautiful and romantic. |

i have traveled back and forth for the last 36 years, just do not worry about it, i have not heard of a plane that crashed in the middle of the atlantic ocean lately.( just kidding)
just stop worrying about it and do not deprive yourself of such a trip because of fear.
i am still scared of planes even tough i take them all the time. if you do not take chances? you will never do anything in life,
you will more than likely sleep trough most of the flight since it is at night, even i sleep, my last flight was in oct 2008 coming back to the US. but as always? i made it..
there are some people there with you,so do not feel alone.you also have movie screens, radios and enough to keep you busy, then you eat, take a snooze, watch more tv, read,
i know it is hard when you are scared of flying but it is the only fast and economically way.
just do it ! i do.
i get sick just thinking about? but i go anyway.. |

North Atlantic Ocean over Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, part of Greenland, near Iceland, over the UK until you land safely in Paris.
My uncle was a pilot and he said that air-pockets are just like speed boats going over waves, nothing to worry about, completely normal.
I've taken KLM, Northwest and Air France. |

Don't worry, air travel is one of the safest means of transportation next to walking. |
