Paris is a classic if you've never been to France. So many monuments, things to see... Needless to detail, a touristic guide would be better.

Provence area (southeast of France) is great. It's the place everybody goes on summer, even if it became very hot weather these last years. Be careful, prices are bit expensive in summer in beach restaurants of the Mediterranean coast...
And the most eastern part (Nice, Monaco...) has too much buildings in my opinion.
However, just go a bit inside of the country, you'll find many little old villages, beautiful landscapes (Gorges du Verdon - the French "canyon")... and nice Mediterranean food.

Brittany (Bretagne) is the Celtic part of France. Very different (a bit more rainy), beautiful places to see (Rennes, Auray, Quimper, Saint-Malo), megalithic monuments, old churches and "calvaires" (religious monuments, typical from Brittany), typical music...

But I would say that almost all parts of France have charm. Alsace is beautiful if you're searching for something more Germanic, North (Lille) has nice places (and nice people), Auvergne has the volcanoes, Corsica island is charming (Provence in more wild nature)... Carcassonne in the South West is a beautiful medieval town, Toulouse seems to be very nice...

But if you come for a first visit, try Paris (avoid its suburbs though) because "Paris sera toujours Paris", then go south (Provence) for a very different climate than Canada :)

well..paris if you want excitment and urban life (dont fo to suburb tho) and try to stay close to the middle of the city (the best place).

if u feel more ...slow.... go south of france.

Move to Alsace, its the industrial captial of France. Most people of this region speak three languages as well as its bordering Germany. Its my favorite area of the country but I also love the south. The areas near Montipellier, Pezenas, and Nimes preferablly. However, a lack of jobs could be an issue. Good luck!

I would say Paris, it is sooo beautiful there. Since you know the language and it is a big city you should not have a problem getting employed. Good luck!

While I appreciate the desire to move to France I wonder if you have given serious consideration to what you will do when you get there.

Since you give no indication that you already have a job or that you are going there to get married I should remind you that you won't have the legal right to work in France.

And if you plan on getting a job after you arrive then realize that your opportunities for legal employment are nil.

Even if this wasn't the case you should understand that the employment situation in France is horrendous and that unemployment hovers just below 10%. In the last decade, France has created only about as many new jobs as the United States creates every three months.

I think the real question is, why in the world would anyone want to move to France? Canada is so much better. After all, we have fewer french people than they do.

I would give that some serious thoughts, the Muslim extremists are alive and well in Europe.

They are pletiful in France and are tired of being second class citizens.

Remember the riots and car burnings twice last year. They say that europe will have a higher population of Muslims to Anglo by 2050. And they want to live by their LAWS, they don't seem very woman friendly.

Read up on the climate of affairs before you decide to go.

I have no problem with muslims, my problem is with fanatics and women haters.
